Hal’s Thoughts For The Week Of March 28

WINNIPEG, MB. – It’s starting to look like maybe we’ve turned the corner on winter. Oh sure, we’ll have a day or two here and there that aren’t great. But for the most part, the forecast is looking pretty good. The long ranger is calling for double digit daytime highs and overnight lows above freezing. Make sure you check out Hal & Bruce’s Weekend Weather on Saturday right here on MyToba for any surprises. Because as my weather expert buddy Bruce Johnson would say, big dumps of snow are certainly possible this time of year.

My Norwex hookup is Jennifer Martens and her Bizy Mamas are holding a Family Event & Vendor Sale this weekend. It’s happening Saturday from noon to four o’clock at the East Elmwood Community Centre. There really is too much going on to mention it all so please check out the poster below.

Good news if you’re like me and waiting for a new hip. Wait times for joint replacements are getting better in Manitoba. But the bad news is that we’re still waiting longer than the national average. A new report shows 66% of Manitobans waiting for a new hip like me met the benchmark of six months which clinical evidence shows is the appropriate amount of time. That’s up from 56% in 2012.

And while we’re talking about my health, I haven’t given you an update in a while on my weight loss journey. I’m down 80 pounds since my Gastric Sleeve surgery in Toronto at the end of July! And my Grand total now sits at 200 pounds!!

Have you seen what’s happening to sushi? They’re called sushi mashups. Sushi cakes, suchi burritos, suchi pies, sushi donuts and even sushi burgers…

An Idaho woman told police she crashed into a deer because she was distracted by a Sasquatch in her rearview mirror. The 50 year old woman told police that she saw a sasquatch chasing a deer on the side of the road while driving. She says she checked one of her mirrors to get a second look at the beast and when she looked up, the deer ran in front of her. Sounds to me like she put a big foot in her mouth.

Have a great week! And don’t forget, I’ll talk to you on CJOB this weekend.
