My Thoughts For The Week Of December 26th

Winnipeg, Manitoba – We had a wonderful Xmas! My wife Jackie and I had her mom and brother over for dinner. We opened a few presents but nothing crazy. It was a great day filled with lots of love. However, on Boxing Day we took one look at all the snow and climbed back into bed. No shopping for us.

Our Christmas blizzard this year shouldn’t really be surprising. We do live in Blizzard Alley afterall. I didn’t realize that until my weather expert buddy Bruce Johnson mentioned it in his weekly MyToba weather report on Saturday. On average, we get between one and two blizzards a year, based on our weather over the last six decades. Lets hope that’s it for us now.

Now that we’ve started to dig out from all the snow, I’d encourage you to get out there and take advantage of the Boxing Week deals. I talked with Larry McInnes of the Retail Council of Canada before Christmas and he told me they’re expecting strong retail sales all this week.

The Jets start the second half of their season tonight in Chicago. Best of luck guys! MyToba’s Scott Taylor says they’ll need to win about 25 of their 45 remaining games to make it to the playoffs. Here’s hoping!

We’ve lost so many musical greats this year. Its been horrible! David Bowie, Prince and now George Michael. Here’s a great video from 1991 of Michael rehearsing at Wembley Stadium. Bowie is actually in the background with Seal. RIP George!

Have a great week and I’ll talk to you again in 2017!
