WINNIPEG — First, an update on my weight loss journey. I’m on puréed foods now, day 12 after my Gastric Sleeve surgery. I should be back on solid foods again within a couple weeks. So far, everything’s going well and I’m down another 13 pounds since the surgery, for a total of 133 now! And I’ve learned something very important…there are some really good baby foods on the market! Seriously though, a lot of people have asked me why I went to SmartShape in Toronto. Two reasons. My BMI was a bit too high for doctors here. And after researching my options, I felt Dr. Chris Cobourn was the best out there. If you’d like more info, go to SmartShape.com.
I’m getting more serious about a couple things I’ve always had fun with. Hal’s Kitchen and Hal Knows A Guy. Both started years ago as radio bits. But I think I can use them now to help people. Help them find good places to eat as well as people who are good at what they do. So, if you’re good at what you do and you own or work in a great restaurant, email me at email@example.com so I can try you out and add you to Hal’s Kitchen and Hal Knows A Guy.
I didn’t know about this until my buddy Norm Lucas told me but Water Ski Wakeboard Manitoba is hosting the National Water Ski Championships this week, Thursday to Sunday. It’s all happening at their tournament and training facility in Winnipeg, known as Lake Shirley. You’ll be able to see some of the world’s best water skiers at NO CHARGE!
I really hope the strike by Crisis Stabilization workers for Macdonald Youth Services can get settled quickly. They’ve been without a contract for over two years now and they do really tough work in the community and for a lot less money than similar workers at the WRHA.
Wow! Suicide Squad was huge on the weekend! The new movie took in $135 million, making it the biggest August opening ever! Kinda cool that such a big film stars Winnipeg’s Adam Beach who plays Slipnot, a master of ropes.
Are you watching the Rio Olympics? Well, if you are, apparently you also need to be following Leslie Jones on Twitter. I just started following the Saturday Night Live and Ghostbusters star but so far she’s hilarious and very patriotic, she loves Team USA. Even NBC has noticed what she’s doing on Twitter, they’ve apparently asked her to be a contributor to their coverage.
